Erasmus IP: Environment Awareness. Communication. Interpretation.

  • Lectures, seminars and cases of hospitality and tourism industries related to nature protection, sustainable business development, interpretation, communication and marketing provided by the academic staff of Vidzeme Univeristy of Applied Sciences (Latvia), Adnan Menderes University (Turkey), Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki (Greece), Karlshochschule International University (Germany), NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences (The Netherlands), Universidade do Porto (Portugal), Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany), University Euroacademy (Estonia), University of Memphis (USA), Manchester Metropolitan University (Great Britain) as well as professionals of nature protection, tourism and marketing.
  • Study trip to the North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve (NVBR) with representative from the NVBR Administration. The reserve includes Salaca River rich in sandstone cliffs and caves, picturesque landscapes of the Baltic Sea Coast and many other spectacular nature sites.
  • Study trip to the Gauja National Park (GNP) with representative from the GNP Administration. The park takes its name from the scenic valley of river Gauja and is one of the Latvian "must-sees".
  • Canoe trip on the Salaca River rich in sandstone cliffs and caves.
  • Various social activities that will help to get known with the local people, culture and entertainment.
  • Final assignment including pre-study, group work during the programme and presentation in the conclusion of the programme.
  • 6 ECTS awarded after passing the final assignment.
The summerschool's host Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences is located in Valmiera, lively and cozy centre of Vidzeme Region, Latvia. Valmiera, a town on the banks of Gauja River, has the natural treasures of the Gauja National Park and the North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve within arm's reach. You are welcome!
