Baltic International Summer School is on the air

Valmiera, August 11, 2007. – Last weekend 28 participants from 11 countries arrived in Valmiera to participate in 9th Baltic International Summer School, organized by Vidzeme University College. Throughout last week they have enjoyed lectures and workshops, discussed with professionals from all over the world and created their own visions of the future of public communication in the age of new media.

As this year Baltic International Summer School is like an introduction to a new study program at Vidzeme University College on media studies and journalism, which will also focus on the new media, all the participants are working hard to make a final product – a web site presenting their vision of the future of communications.

Thus BISS is not only about studies; it is not only about working hard. During the last week, participants have also had loads of fun, while cooking national meals for International food party, climbing in the tower of Cesu castle during excursions or just trying to swim over Vaidava lake in free time. And there is another week of new experiences waiting for us.

During this week, participants will keep learning about the newest trends in online media and communication, as well as produce a web site on the summer school’s topic themselves. It will contain articles and other multi-media materials about their vision of the future of communication. The final product will be presented to wider audience on the last day of summer school – August 17, and will be available to everybody online at summer school’s address

The organizers of the summer school would also like to remind to the professionals working in media and public relations that this summer school is still open to them for a little fee. Information about participation in classes and seminars, as well as schedules and application form can be found on the above-mentioned summer school’s web site.
