Come to the Baltics for Multi-Cultural Summer Experience!

Valmiera, May 31, 2007. – Multicultural spirit will unite and inspire media, communications and public relations students from all over the world during the 9th Baltic International Summer School, which will take place in Valmiera, Latvia, August 6-18.

So far students from China, United States of America, India, Austria, Belarussia, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Nigeria, Pakistan, Rumania, Czech Republic and Ukraine have applied to come to Latvia, spend two summer weeks in the Baltics and learn about the topic of the summer school -- “The Future of Public Communication in the Age of New Media” as well as experience the joys of the Baltics, enjoy different cultures and meet new friends from other countries.

As already reported, the Baltic International Summer School offers two-in one. Besides lectures and workshops about various aspects of communication, public relations and new media by renowned communications experts from the Baltics, Europe and the United States, a number of social activities are scheduled. For instance, trips to Sigulda for town’s 800th anniversary, medieval town of Cesis and the capital of Latvia -- Riga, sports evenings, Baltic film evening, folk dance evening, international food party and a visit to the Riga Gulf to experience the beauty of the Baltic coastline.

About Vidzeme University College
Vidzeme University College, the home of Baltic International Summer School, was formed in 1996 to promote economic, political and social development by providing higher education to the people of Vidzeme region. Since 2001 the school has the status of state university college. At present there are 1325 students and 50 full time lecturers at Vidzeme University College. The university offers five professional study programmes: Communication and Public Relations, Political Science, Business administration, Information Technology and Tourism Organization and Management, as well as several master level programs.
