BISS in 2011 – 3 courses devoted to tourism and environment!

From July 25 to August 14, 2011, the main building of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences in Valmiera will be busy again as for the 13th time in row Baltic International Summer School (BISS) will welcome participants from all over the world in three courses. This year the summer school will deal with nature protection, tourism in Baltic countries, sustainability and environment awareness.

International Summer School Devoted to Environmental Awareness Issues
From August 4 to 18 Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA) is organizing the 2nd programme of this year’s Baltic International Summer School - "Environmental Awareness. Communication. Interpretation.” realized within Erasmus Intensive Programme framework. The project will involve students and lecturers from partner universities in Finland, Turkey, the Netherlands, USA, Canada, and Latvia.

International Summer School offers essential knowledge in the development of economy

Vidzeme University College starts to accept electronical applications to participate in the 11th Baltic International Summer School. This year the stress is put on multicultural communication. Starptautiskā vasaras skolā sniegs ekonomikas attīstībai svarīgas zināšanas
Trešdien, 11. februārī, Vidzemes Augstskola (ViA) uzsāks elektronisku pieteikumu pieņemšanu starpkultūru komunikācijas tematikai veltītajai 11. Baltijas Starptautiskajai vasaras skolai. Vidzemes Augstskola (ViA) izsludina 11. Baltijas Starptautiskās vasaras skolas tematu. Tas būs veltīts starpkultūru komunikācijai, tāpēc vasaras skolai izvēlēts nosaukums „Austrumi, mēs, rietumi: meklējot līdzīgo un atšķirīgo Eiropas valstu kultūrās”. 11. Baltijas vasaras skola norisināsies Valmierā no 2009. gada 1. līdz 19. jūlijam.

Minister of Social Integration Will Present Certificates to Summer School Graduates
Valmiera (Latvia), August 14, 2008. – This Friday, August 15, Vidzeme University College’s Baltic International Summer School will conclude with presentation of student works devoted to the theme of the event – “Communication. Integration. Technology.”  Summer school participants were attending lectures in Valmiera and exmined the situation of social integration in Daugavpils and Narva. Special Assignment Minister for Social Integration of Latvia Oskars Kastēns will present Certificates to 32 participants from 15 countries during the closing ceremony. 

Baltic International Summer School participants are overjoyed about the stay with Latvian families
Valmiera (Latvia), August 9, 2008. – This year Baltic International Summer School started a new tradition – foreign student stays with Latvian families. The aim of the event is to introduce participants to Latvian culture and lifestile. After family evening, which was on August 5, foreign participants were amazed about the hospitality of local people.

Latvian Minister of Education and Science will Open 10th Baltic International Summer School
Valmiera (Latvia), July 31, 2008. – This Saturday, August 2 at 19:00 Latvian Minister of Education and Science Tatjana Koke will open 10th Baltic International Summer School organized by Vidzeme University and the anniversary photography exhibition “Ten Great Summers”, capturing most memorable moments of past summer schools. This year 31 participants from 14 countries have arrived for the summer school.

16 recognized media experts will teach at the summer school
Valmiera (Latvia), July 24, 2008. – This year Baltic International Summer School will feature 16 lecturers from 8 countries, representing United States, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Finland, Poland, Estonia and Latvia. All of them are recognized speakers or media practitioners who will share their knowledge and competence on the summer school’s topic – “Communication. Integration. Technology.” with about 35 participants from all over the world during the summer school that will take place in Valmiera, Daugavpils (Latvia), Narva (Estonia) and Zarasai (Lithuania) from August 1-17, 2008.

Vidzeme University College recieves 137 summer school applications from 34 countries
Valmiera (Latvia), June 10, 2008. – This year Vidzeme University has received summer school applications from 137 students, representing 34 countries. It is a record-high number of applications and countries for Baltic International Summer School that will take place in Valmiera, Daugavpils (Latvia), Narva (Estonia) and Zarasai (Lithuania) from August 1-17. About 40 students will be selected for paticipation this year. The summer school will feature 17 recognized lecturers from 6 different countries, including United States, United Kingdom, Italy, Finland, Poland and Latvia, who will share their knowledge and competence on the summer school’s topic – “Communication. Technologies. Integration.”
